ISB Boston Office,

Major Jureg looked over the information on the data-pad on his desk as well as the physical files on it. The man pictured on the screen of the data-pad was named Elliot Stern, an informant who had been working for them for the past four years. He had turned over dozens of suspected and confirmed dissidents during his time in the ISB's service, and had received numerous financial and career rewards for his aid.

The man in the files before Jureg looked a lot like Elliot, although there was only a few sketches of him. The sketches and the files they were part of came from the police station of a town near Albany. The man in the sketch had gone by the name 'Doctor Ramsey', and according to statements from various witnesses, young and old, he had stalked numerous young children three years before the Empire came to Earth. The objects of his attention ranged from seven to fourteen, and he did everything from driving by their schools and waving to them to observing them at home and calling them.

There were four instances of him breaking into homes with the occupants present that the police were aware of. In one instance, he killed the family pet. He also attempted to abduct a child from her school by posing as her parent, but the school called the child's mother to verify this and he fled.

The files were recovered by an ISB team that had found the police station and went through their records as was procedure. During the process of having them uploaded into the computer system, the picture of 'Doctor Ramsey' caused the computer to issue a notice regarding the similarity he had to Elliot. The information made its way up the chain and reached him within half a day.

'Doctor Ramsey' was almost certainly a fake name. Jureg could feel it in his gut. As he soaked up all the information present, he came to a distasteful realization.

There was a child predator working under him. One who was active in the past and who could still be active right that moment. Jureg's brow furrowed. The contents of the police files helped shed light on how he was so talented with not only surveillance but making entry into suspect's homes. According to the files, he was able to tell people he was calling in certain houses what the inhabitants were actually doing if they tried lying to him. He had a knack for entering and leaving without people catching him.

There was great benefit to the ISB in keeping Elliot or 'Doctor Ramsey' in its service despite his past. He had a skillset that was of great help to them.

But it didn't escape Jureg's attention that there was much they didn't know about Elliot's past. The files that were brought over indicated that he disappeared late in the Terran year of 2004, right when it seemed the police were able to place him into custody. It was easily conceivable that Elliot fled when things got too hot and hid somewhere. The last pages regarding his case suggested that all the harassment his victims experienced suddenly stopped. No calls, no break ins, no contact whatsoever.

Someone like him would see the chaos caused by the Imperial invasion and mass displacement as being a gift from the Maker. He could move into whichever city or town that he wished. Anyone who didn't recognize him or have any knowledge of his actions wouldn't be able to tell him apart from the horde of refugees moving all over the place in the wake of the initial offensives.

Jureg also came to realize that Elliot could have been indulging his vice not only during the chaos of the invasion, but after the occupation began, before he worked with the ISB.

Maybe even after he began working for them. He used those skills of his to great effect before the Empire came to Earth. They didn't know what he was doing every moment of every day. While he provided lots of information of enemies of the state, there was no way he was doing that all the time. Lots of the people in Boston right now weren't native to the city. It was known that a lot of them were refugees from other areas who happened to be in town when the occupation started and they were stuck in Boston.

The chances of someone from the 'Doctor Ramsey' days being able to recognizing him were slim to practically none.

Elliot had withheld crucial information regarding his past from the ISB. There was every possibility he was indulging in his favorite activity when not doing his work for the Empire. People like him were universally hated. Were he to be caught, those who did so would have plenty of inclination to dispose of him themselves rather than hand him over to the authorities.

Were he to be caught, he might decide it was in his best interest to reveal who his masters were. Anything to give him a bit more time to try and escape. There was every reason to assume that if Elliot were to be caught, he'd offer up whatever information he had on the ISB's activities.

And news were to get out that a child predator was working for the ISB, the public's reaction would be vicious. As if they'd need another reason to despise the Empire's political police. Even though deliberately hiring Elliot's ilk wasn't ISB policy, that fact would be a mere inconvenience, something easily brushed aside.

He couldn't allow Elliot to be caught by the angry parents of a would be victim, or Maker forbid, the resistance. Despite all he'd done for the ISB in Boston, there was too much chance that Elliot's voracious impulses would make things very problematic. Jureg wasn't going to wait until his 'asset' was captured while trying to break into a house to get to some kids hiding inside.

He would need to be dismissed. Immediately. In such a manner that he'd be in no position to reveal secrets.
