Seeing as someone brought up Shinx, I'm just going to use this as an opportunity to share this post I made for r/Stunfisk's Theorymon Thursday since I think it'd be a good way to buff these Physical based Electric types.

Pokémon General Thread (2)

I've been making a lot of posts for that subreddit.

Pokémon General Thread (3) It's mainly because Luxray doesn't have any good electric stab due to it being a Physical attacker while Ampharos fares better in that regard since it's a special attacker.

Probably because Mareep is just one of the best electric types that fit the criteria of stater pokemon.

Personally I love my luxray in violet. Wild charge, ice fang, crunch, and thunder wave served me well in battling and catching. Fits my style better than ampharos does.

Even though Eelektross is a better user of that move thanks to coil buffing its attack defence and accuracy up.

I didn't actually watch the video yet but yeah basically what Zygarde said about Ampharos having access to be better electric moves that suit its offensive capabilities. Although TBF electric is a special attack based type so not much for Luxray to work with.

At the risk of being petty, I'm also wondering why Beldum over Aron.

Add Haxorus to that as well as that is not a pseudo-legendary in comparison to Salamence.

Beldum over Aron is a legit question tbh, not petty, due to Metagross' status as a pseudo AND how difficult it is to raise Beldum compared to others on the table

Beldum evolves earlier than Aron. That was the justification. He tried to aim for "evolves in the 10's first and 30's second", and of the steel types that fit, Beldum came closest.

The other Steel starter candidates are: Pawniard, Magnemite, Aron, Klink, and Honedge. All of which evolve for the first time later than Beldum, and the third evolution isn't by leveling up for several of them.

Electric-type Outrage named Outage. There. A physical Electric move worth the risk using.

Am I the only person to believe that Sword/Shield count as the biggest example of an "It's Popular, Now It Sucks!" Pokémon generation? Behind Red/Blue, they're the titles with the most copies sold, and Red/Blue's battle system is So Bad, It's Good in many ways (and Game Freak didn't have their subtraction fetish yet that started with Sword/Shield) while Sword/Shield's battling atmosphere is like a watered-down version of Gen VII with a much more unbalanced mechanic — not to mention Sword/Shield is where GF started cutting moves and mons with little to no reason (and it's still a problem to this day). Galar is a terribly designed region, yet due to its... admittedly acceptable character design... Sword/Shield is by far the most popular Pokémon generation to make fanart out of (even eclipsing Generations IV (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and V Black/White/Black 2/White 2 in that regard).

Fan art for the Galar characters are as common as Zubat. While Sinnoh, Unova, and Paldea are't that far behind in fanart count, they aren't attached to games that I have no sentiment towards.

@leafsaber47 no, as while it's one of most sold sets of games it's more like the amount it sold vs how people feel about it are a separate issue from each other.

Pokémon General Thread (25) So fan art popularity of Galar has no relation as to how poor in quality Sword/Shield are?

Yep as some can hate how the game was while liking the characters to make art for them.

I think it's just that a lot of designs were striking and some in particular like Nessa's went viral and got the attention of non-fans. Fan art doesn't have that much to do with the overall game's reception. Also, a lot of the fan art was by people who never played the game or actively followed pokemon as a while (as you obviously don't have to be a fan of something to draw fan art of it)

Re: Azure: So basically, it's a Critical Dissonance scenario instead of It's Popular, Now It Sucks!

Speaking of the Dex cut, I'm honestly fine with it if Game Freak included Pokemon that would fit Galar's British theming. But I still don't understand why they forgo mons like Swanna and Granbull and instead stick in rafflesias, mangosteens, Hopkinsville Goblins, kappas, tengus, and other non-British-feeling concepts.

Then again, it's not like Pokemon has ever been completely accurate with Fantastic fauna (who could forget the free roaming zebras of New York), and the ones I listed above may have more subtle English connections note. Admittedly I'm just salty they passed off the inclusion of Swanna and Granbull.
