So I’ve noticed when I’m watching something on safari my iPhone crashes and it’s happened to me while just being on different apps whilst listening to music on the phone. I updated the phone from 14.1 to 14.4 and it still is happening. What happens is the screen goes black and has the spinning wheel in the middle of the screen for couple seconds and then the phone ends up on the Lock Screen.

Not sure what is the reason for this and not sure if there is an issue with the phone.

If you have not yet then update your iPhone 12 to iOS version 14.4

If you have updated to iOS 14.4 and are having the crashing/re-springing issues then:

Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

Make sure you inform apple support. This is the only way we can speed the engineers up to look for a bug fix. If they tell you to restore and all that rubbish, I would let them know that we’ve been chatting to the advisors who have been working with the engineers to release a software update.

I’m just hoping that the next update fixes this because I’m losing hope.

My phone has been doing this as well. I purchased an iPhone 12 pro about a month ago and it has been updated to 14.4.2, I have also done a Force Restart like mentioned by apple support already. Still no fix. Can we get any support here?

It’s very frustrating to be browsing on Reddit, Instagram or safari and get booted out, losing my page or the post I was on. I really didn’t expect issues like this after just switching to an iPhone.

This is also happening with my phone. I got a 12 pro about 3 weeks ago, was fine up until Saturday and started with doing it once a day and is gradually getting more frequent. I have an appointment at the apple store on Saturday but I don’t have much hope now seeing as you guys still have the same issue after months!

Happens to me aswell. It started to begin on Monday this week. I have an iPhone 12 pro Max. Latest IOS Version , all Apps updated. I dropped my phone from literally 2,5 meters a few days ago. I first thougt it was Some issue on the hardware. But it happens like one time a day. Not the same time at all. 3-5 seconds black screen with loading circle, then back to lockscreen. Wonder why this didn‘t happen before. It’s just the same IOS Version. Btw i‘m not using an Apple Watch.

I’m the same with it not happening then starting to happen one day when I hadn’t updated my software and there isn’t a new version for me to update to. It’s once or twice a day for me and same issue as yourself but I do have an Apple Watch.

Someone further up said they got a replacement device and it still happens so I have changed my appointment to next Saturday to see if the update due out this coming week makes a difference.

It is quite annoying but I’m also beginning to worry it’ll get to the stage it does it all the time or it eventually won’t come back on

I face this same issue with my iPhone 12 ( 128 gb). Previously I have owned iPhone 4s and 6S and did not face such issues at all. I am losing my patience as I really waited and paid a premium price to get this phone. I need a replacement if this doesn’t get fixed! Period.

Hi!

I’ve been getting this issue too since Thursday. I’ve called Apple support three times and they tell me different things each time. One told me that it might be a battery thing (he didn’t even know what I was talking about), another one told me to reestablish my internet settings. And this last one man told me he things it’s a location thing and that no one else has reported this issue before. In conclusion, they don’t have any idea. I suppose it’s a software problem and I hope this does get fixed asap since we’ve all spent more than 800€ on a phone that has these stupid bugs.

Yeah they’re silly sometimes. I always mention the forums to prove it’s a widespread problem. I’ve been experiencing this since November and after getting a replacement and still having the issue- I don’t see any hope. Not going to lie..

Hello guys, same problem with an iPhone XS. At this point I should think that it's last ios update's fault. Hope they'll fix it soon, anyway if someone has news or methods to try to fix it, keep us updated.

I know! It is strange how it’s not everyone because it’s happened to me when I’ve been in the photo app and things like that so it’s not like it can be coming from apps we’ve chosen to download. Hope they find a solution soon

Hi, the same thing is happening to me. I have tried the force restart but nothing, I purchased the phone less than 2 months ago.

I hope they will fix this. It happened with different apps, I thought maybe it was a bug caused by some apps but it’s not. I thought my phone was faulty, but I’ve seen a lot of people saying that they have the same issue.

Hello! Just reading this.

Currently the same thing happens to me with a 128gb Iphone 11. I have the problem since last Thursday (more than a week) and the bug appears 1 or 2 times a day depending on how I use the phone.

Do you think it will be solved with the new version of IOS 14.5?
