Pop quiz time: What’s in a Big Mac?
That was an easy one, right? It’s two-all-beef-patties-special-sauce-lettuce-cheese-pickles-onions-on-a-sesame-seed-bun. It’s kind of the ultimate sandwich – an extra-large burger with everything.
Big Macs would make great party food, except for one problem: they’re too big. Guests come with different-sized appetites, and not everyone is hungry enough to scarf down two-all-beef-patties with everything. Some people might only want half of one, while others could easily eat two.
These Big Mac Sliders are the solution. They’ve got all the fixings that make the Big Mac so special, but in a smaller form that fits easily in one hand. So your guests can have just one, or as many as it takes to satisfy their appetite.

Of course, if you made these the way McDonald’s does – frying up each beef patty in a skillet – making a whole batch would be a real hassle.
So I use a simpler shortcut: I roast the beef in a big sheet pan, then lay it right on top of your tray of slider buns. Top it with the special-sauce-lettuce-cheese etcetera, put on the bun tops, and sprinkle on sesame seeds for that final on-a-sesame-seed-bun touch.
And presto, Big Macs for the crowd – no drive-through required.
How to make Big Mac Sliders
- Preheat oven to 350 F. In bowl mix together all sauce ingredients, cover and refrigerate.
- Combine your ground beef, salt and pepper and minced onion.
- In a large baking dish (we used 11″x13″) or sheet pan, press your ground beef into a rectangle (you can use a 9″x13″ pan for leaner ground beef that shrinks less).
- Bake in oven for about 20-25 minutes until internal temp reaches 165.
- Remove from oven and top with cheese, place back in oven and bake just until melted.
- Add bottom ofsliderbuns to a baking dish, spread half of your sauce over the bottom of buns then top with shredded lettuce then top with your ground beef slice.
- Sprinkle on your chopped onions and then layer your pickles over top, drizzle with remaining sauce.
- Top withsliderbun tops, brush with butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

I do love this recipe. Small size, indulging without going to the real thing.. Suggest toasting buns and using lean beef as these ended up a little sloppy.
