This year, the FAFSA/TASFA changes has caused some changes to our deadlines. Remember December 1 for our Top and Terry Scholarship, January 15 for UTSA General Scholarship and April 15 for Financial Aid priority and Bold Promise. Each have additional information you want to be aware of.

Scholarships and resources for financial support play a pivotal role in making education more accessible and affordable for students.
Tuition Free Bold Promise
If you’re a freshman who meets the Bold Promise criteria, you could have your full tuition and mandatory fees 100% covered for eight consecutive fall/spring semesters – that’s four years of free education! If you meet the requirements and are admitted to UTSA, you are automatically considered – no extra application necessary!

Scholarship Hub
UTSA offers a ton of general scholarships through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships that vary in eligibility requirements and award amounts. Many of these scholarships are funded by the university or donors, and some of the UTSA academic colleges and departments even offer scholarships for students who have declared a major in their area.
Since you have so many options available, UTSA pooled all these scholarships together in one handy spot: the UTSAScholarship Hub! That means you only need to fill out one application to be considered for most of these scholarships. Once you have a myUTSA Account ID and passphrase, you can fill out the Scholarship HubGeneral Applicationand start checking things out. Distinguished Presidential Scholarship
This is a merit-based scholarship, meaning you could be granted anywhere from $500 to $5,000 per year based solely on your academic achievement! Like the Bold Promise program, students who qualify will be automatically considered after admission.

Distinguished Transfer Scholarship
Are you a transfer student who excelled academically at your previous school? You might qualify for this scholarship, which is based on academic merit. This scholarship can grant you up to $1,500 per semester for four consecutive semesters. If you meet the requirements, you will be automatically considered after you are admitted.

Terry Scholars®
Terry Scholars® are chosen based on three criteria:
- Leadership potential and character
- Scholastic record ability
- Financial need
If you’re selected for the Terry Scholar® Program, you’ll receive 8 semesters of funding for tuition, fees, books, housing and a meal plan. If you meet additional GPA requirements, you could also qualify to receive additional funding to study abroad! Terry Scholars® are also members of UTSA’s Honors College. You can learn more here.

Top Scholars
If you have a history of leadership, academic achievement and service to your community, you might be eligible for the Top Scholar Program. As a Top Scholar you’ll receive a comprehensive scholarship that covers tuition, fees and room and board, as well as additional support for internships and study abroad programs. Top Scholars also join UTSA as members of the Honors College. Click here to see if you’re eligible to apply.

- total funds needed to attend for the academic year
- financial aid offer that includes scholarships, grants and work study (don’t forget this is just an estimation!)

Submit Your Financial Aid Application
Your first step to applying for aid at UTSA is to complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid) if you’re a non-citizen Texas resident.
By submitting your FAFSA, you’ll be considered for several forms of aid such as:
- Federal Grants: This is gifted money you don’t have to pay back.
- Federal Loans: This is money you borrow from the government that you will have to pay back after graduation with interest.
- Work-Study: This is money you earn by working a job on campus.
If you complete your FAFSA or TASFA and get admitted to UTSA before the priority deadline, you can automatically be considered for Bold Promise and some specific aid opportunities.
